Learn to use the Humanities and Social Sciences Library
This lab session provides a brief overview of the University of Alberta Libraries. The objective is to teach users how to search the NEOS Library Consortium Catalogue and to introduce them to other resources including electronic databases and electronic journals. This is a hands-on session to learn the basics of using EndNote: creating a database, inputting and importing records, using the "Cite While You Write" feature in MS Word, and ultimately creating bibliographies in one or more reference output styles. A wide range of Statistics Canada information is available to students and staff at the University of Alberta, including a rich collection of aggregate statistical databases, microdata files,and spatial data files. This workshop provides an overview of the electronic sources of statistical information available and includes computing exercises demonstrating a variety of these products. Among the products presented are CANSIM, E-STAT, Census data, Community Profiles, the Daily, and public use microdata.
